Aha. This death was quick and meaningful in the way of showing us that infant deaths are a common things, still. Unfortunately.
The kid had no crystal, since he got no memories. Not even name. It’s just a wasted death for him to demonstrate that he (and we all) should be thankful for just being alive, after all. That his parents loved him and did not harm him.

So, he made some right decisions here. He got the money, up to the seconds. My first reaction was that he should put the money back into the safe. But maybe giving the money to his mother was even better choice.
We’re shown the development of his story, with the girlfriend. He talks to her, and eventually he tells her his story. They’re both killed by this antagonist character. So, now we understand that his mission is probably to eliminate this guy.
He starts with firing gun at death’s. Uh, pretty good idea. Interesting how it’ll develop. Unfortunately, it seems like death is more powerful than him. Since it’s her place, after all.
